DO YOUR OWN THING!

Monday, June 1st, 2009 by Administrator

There is no better time then NOW to do your own thing!

I started doing my own thing since I was born.  Whether it generated praise or raised eyebrows, I paid it no mind. Doing my own thing was the only sane way to live.  What else is there?  We each possess a unique set of talents and abilities.  No one in the world is just like YOU.   What is stopping you?

Doing your own thing can be easy.  Below are three key steps:

1. Get clear on what your dream life would be like (See How to Get Your Own Thing Going article in upcoming e-book).  It is critical to have a clear idea of your passions otherwise you build a life to win the approval of others and not to be happy. Having people approve of you is SO overrated and boring.  Happy is much better. Who are those people anyway…and why do you care what they think?

2. Start small with part-time, contract or volunteer work.  The more you are exposed to “the world” you long to be part of the more you will see opportunities show up for you.

3. Have courage and move forward.  Polishing my craft and developing my business took time, commitment and constant creative thinking.  However the most important quality I had to develop was the nerve to put myself out there. Have the courage to step into new territory, meet new people and take chances.  Ask for help, share resources and create partnerships. Life is supposed to be fun.

Tips like this and more can be found in my new e-book called Do Your Own Thing: Little Business, Big Advice coming soon! I wrote this for the folks with dreams in their back pocket, folks with dreams now launching and folks with dreams whose time has come.

….May it serve all those who dare to do their own thing!
