Find a Way to Laugh

I think the best thing in life is laughing. It heals, transforms and bonds. In that spirit I will share several of my funniest moments.

Once a director at a Northeast hospital, I experienced many “funny” things especially with the folks I worked with. One in particular was when the manager that reported to me scanned my photo, made flyers, hung them everywhere and put 1-900-Kristin (AS A JOKE.) everywhere. Someone called the number and found out it was a real “frisky” service line. Her frantic face as she ran to collect the evidence and the irony of the number being real was too hilarious to get mad… I just had to laugh.

In San Diego doing a seminar on stress managment, I walked out while folks were in a deep meditation accidently leaving my mic on. I soon learned my entire conversation with the host (high fives and chats) were all heard by 117 people. In this case, THEY had the best laugh. Thank goodness they loved the seminar from the evals. I love folks from California!

Another prank from my assistant included filling my day planner with sparkle confetti (I mean she PACKED it). I had a big board meeting, came in all serious…opened the planner and sprayed the entire table with festive colors and stars. It certainly broke the ice.

Early in my career I was asked to teach students of an all-girls school about communications careers. It was one of my very first presentations and I was very nervous. I was dressed perfectly, had the nice briefcase and carried myself well even with all the nerves….to have my ankle bob from something on the floor, my arms swooped out, briefcase went flying across the hall to then watch my body go airborn in the school hallway. With that, I skipped the pre-planned icebreaker.

Hope my humanity can make you laugh at your own!
